COMMITTEES

Advisory Committees

There are two standing advisory committees of membership. These committees are advisory to the board of directors on all matters of interest and concern to the membership of those committees. Committee membership is determined by an individual's commitment to the focus of the committee either through personal experience or affinity.

The Battered/Formerly Battered Women's Committee

Purpose: Provide a voice for and promote involvement and participation of battered/formerly battered women from diverse groups in WCADV and provide support and leadership training for battered/formerly battered women. The Communities Of People Of Color Committee

Purpose: Provide a voice for and promote involvement and participation of people of color, particularly battered women of color in WCADV. Provide support and leadership training for battered/formerly battered women of color. Program Committees and Sub-committees

WCADV has several standing and ad hoc program committees. These committees are advisory to WCADV staff regarding particular programmatic issues. The membership of these committees is determined by an individual's experience, skill or interest with regard to the committee's topic area. Committee members may represent a broad range of interests, geography and demography.

STANDING COMMITTEES:

Wisconsin African American Committee Against Domestic Violence

Purpose: To provide advice and direction regarding WCADV's efforts to organize responses to domestic violence in the Wisconsin African American community; represent the needs of African American victims of domestic violence and their children to WCADV and other state and local agencies and policy makers on behalf of WCADV. Children and Youth Committee

Purpose: (1) Provide advice and recommendations regarding WCADV's technical assistance and program development efforts regarding children who witness violence and youth who witness or experience domestic violence. (2) Advocate for children and youth affected by domestic violence, with a specific focus on children and youth served by WI domestic abuse programs and the children's advocates who work with them. Education Committee
