National Affiliations

Several WCADV staff have close working relationships with national organizations and affinity groups. These groups provide support, networking opportunities and technical assistance for WCADV staff and programs. This support for WCADV staff allow us to provide better information and assistance to Wisconsin programs and victims.

Wisconsin's involvement with these national groups also means that the needs of Wisconsin victims and our local programs' interests are represented at the national level. Decisions made and directions set at the national level often come back to Wisconsin in the form of policies and funding. This makes our relationships with these national groups invaluable. It grew out of a core group of state coalitions that had been meeting informally for years to address national policy issues affecting state and local efforts to end violence against women. NNEDV was instrumental in the development of the first Violence Against Women Act passed in 1994.
