Rural and Tribal Technical Assistance Project

WCADV's Rural and Tribal Project provides a variety of opportunities for domestic violence programs. Rural and Tribal programs have unique challenges and barriers due to limited resources and limited influence.

In Wisconsin's rural and tribal communities, battered women and their children face many challenges: lack of anonymity, transportation and housing, employment opportunities and geographical isolation compounded by extreme weather conditions during the year. Programs face similar challenges. A parallel exists between the challenges faced by victims and those of advocates. As victims pay a price for coming forward in their communities, addressing this isolation by building strong relationships is critical to supporting programs and ultimately ensuring quality services for victims of abuse.
