DAIS is the leading provider of domestic violence intervention and prevention services in Dane County. Founded in 1977, DAIS has grown from its humble beginnings of five volunteers working out of a church basement, to an organization of close to 45 full-time staff, numerous part-time staff, and over 130 volunteers providing comprehensive prevention and intervention programming to thousands of Dane County residents each year. The organization is currently in the process of substantial growth in programming and the required staff and volunteer corps to support that programming as a result of our August 2014 transition to a new and much larger facility.
 
DAIS is seeking an Assistant Shelter Coordinator to join our growing team. The Assistant Shelter Coordinator works 12pm-8pm M-F and is responsible for providing direct services to victims of domestic violence and their children in the DAIS emergency shelter, supervising shelter program volunteers, and overseeing provision of basic needs to shelter residents. This position also participates in rotational on-call coverage.
 
A successful candidate will have a four-year college or university degree, however, relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree. Experience in and knowledge of residential services, crisis management, and volunteer supervision is highly desirable. Experience working with survivors of domestic violence is preferred.
