Personal Development Center, Inc. is a private non-profit domestic violence and sexual assault agency that provides case management, advocacy, education, prevention and intervention services for families and individuals through six programs dedicated to strengthening family life, increasing safety and preventing family violence.
Position: Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate
Job Summary: Perform intakes, establish collateral contacts/releases, case manage, assist clients in obtaining referrals, maintain appropriate records and reports. Assist clients with legal advocacy (restraining orders, family court issues, accompaniment to court, attorney appointments, etc.). Facilitate support groups. Provide community education or requested information through presentations, resource fairs, and in-services. Maintain and develop community collaborations and working relationships with local resource agencies and community partners. Assist the Executive Director with grant writing.
Experience/Qualifications: Qualified candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in a human services related field. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills; ability to work in a confidential manner and deal with crisis situations; be able to problem solve efficiently and effectively, maintain strong personal and professional boundaries; be knowledgeable about computers and Microsoft programs. Background check, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required.
Salary/Hours: Salary based on experience. Full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30 and will require one evening a week to facilitate support groups. Additional evenings and weekends may be required to attend special events or meetings.
